Wash drying up white?!

My wash (noticed with agrax earthshade) is drying up white lately... never had this problem before and I do shake them. Anyone else had this problem or tips on how to prevent this?

Shake them more and harder mate - thats the answer. The newer washes seem to need a lot more shaking than the old type.

I drop a single BB into each of my paints and washes to help agitate it more as well.

Yes I've had this problem and I don't see how shaking it to excess helps at all. Plus why risk your models?
I have not seen it with agrax but colours such as my Reikland Fleshshade and Druchii Violet seem to do it all the time to the point where I don't use them anymore.
The fact that the new shades do this made me find an alternative method which ended up being better anyway. I make washes using Vallejo ink/paint plus glaze medium and water and they work exactly as a wash/shade should with the added benefit of being easier to control and leaving no tide marks.
Also, Army Painter inks ( identical to the old GW washes) are perfect replacements for Devlan Mud, Badab Black and Gryphonne Sepia being exact in behaviour, tone and consistency.

Looks like acrylic medium to me, which would mean adding water or using less so it does not puddle anywhere.

Puddles are the point of washes, otherwise you're not getting any shade

Totally unrelated note. I really like the colors of the cloaks, I know its a base coat and all but still ha!

Best of luck with the washes. I use the older ones and have not had that problem yet thankfully.

Well, try smaller puddles, multiple times. When was the pic taken? after an hour or overnight? It is certainly acrylic medium, which will separate if not mixed well as mentioned above. Adding water will thin out the shade a bit but may prevent "premature separation".
