Easy question but I would like details.
I am drybrushing the warplock bronze after the base colour. After it dries, I continue with drybrushing the metalic colour of the armour etc, so Chainmale, boltgun or something.
Am I doing this in the correct way? Should I aim for something when I try to creat rusty areas? Plz give me an example of a fine done rusty armour, thank you!

Google seems to indicate that warplock bronze is a copper colour, not rust. You need to go for shades of brown and orange. Here are some images for reference:








There are a couple of different ways of achieving this. Personally I use powdered pigments as they give the metal a nice dusty look- you can make pigments by sanding down coloured chalk pastels to a paste, which are cheaper than the pigments you often see in modelling shops.

Another way to do it is to make a varied rust effect the base coat of the metal areas: stipple on different shades of rust colour using pieces of torn up sponge that you get in blister packs (or used to, anyway). Then dry brush metallic paint over the top.
I don't know modern GW colours, but what used to be "dark flesh" is a nice brown with red in it. That might be the darkest shade, and adding more orange and yellow to the base of dark brown. Then a dry brush of a lighter silver colour- used to be called chainmail back in the day.

Lastly you could use the relevant rust colours as washes over a metal base, and dry brush over the top afterwards to bring out the detail and remind people that they're actually looking at metal.

Googling "miniatures rust tutorial" will bring up a few pages of helpful results with a lot of different techniques like the ones I've mentioned above, with pictures and step by step guides.

3 step rust
-Base coat black
-Dry brush your metallic color
-stipple on Fiery orange (or similar color)
This method is okay for table quality minis. If you want something better use the 9 step method

9 step rust
-Base coat black
-drybrush on tin bitz
-light drybrush of bolt gun metal
-Stipple on scorched brown
-layer on stipple of dark flesh
-stipple on a layer of fiery orange
-wash on either a sepia tone or a brown tone (I prefer brown) Argax earthshade I believe is the name of GWs new brown wash.
-Stipple on an addition layer of fiery orange (AFTER WASH HAS DRIED COMPLETELY)
-Touch up the edges of your metalic object with mithril silver.

Another rust method which I like quite a bit is used to replicate pitted metal. Get out your rust color (orange!), thin it, take your tooth brush (okay, not *your* tooth brush, but a tooth brush no one will ever stick in their mouth), dip it in the thinned orange then run your thumb across the bristles so you get little pock marks on your metallic object.

This is really messy and you should test run it a few times before you start flicking orange paint on your awesome new mini.

PS- the flicking method is also a good way to make a star cloak

The skeletons and orc are done with the eight step. I usually don't use the 3 step method.
