There will be. Looking forward to getting a GW version - I have neither the space or cash to spare to these WETA bad boys. |

I'm just not a fan of this design. I much prefer the big hairy one. |

Definitely disagree with this... I thought the beardy one looked really dumb... one of the worst orc designs yet.. was very pleased when it got canned. Not sure why we needed Bolg and Azog in the movies... but hey, this is a lovely sculpt. I would probably buy a GW one if they do it. |

Just throwing it out there. You know that's not his beard right? He in essence scalped the dwarves beard and put it in himself. I like the crazy with the orcs. This new one is terrible. Not at all intimidating and just looks stupid in the face |

I think this pose is showing him in a bad light. Bolg in action is beautiful IMO. i much prefer this one, the other one looked like an undercooked Viking. |

I'm conflicted on new bolg and old bolg. On the one hand, Old Bolg is without question one of the best bits of design to come out of WETA, IMO. Terrifying and awesome in a way that Orcs never really are. But, since they got rid of Old Man Yazneg as Azog, they couldn't very well have a son of Azog who looks older, more rugged and more psychopathic than his father. And I do really, really like the relacement. It's not as good, but then again not much else is either. I like the more simian, non human proportions in particular. One very good reason to go CG from PJ, even if I don't agree with all of his reasons. The design history of Azog and Bolg in these movies is such an interesting one, I think. There's so much in the way of knock on effects that have affected everything. Movie needs persistent sense of threat to avoid becoming a series of unconnected encounters with little sense of threat or drive - solution is to have company be pursued. Azog and bolg story as per book isn't simple enough, requiring too many characters introduced too soon and then killed or not show up for two films - solution, par it down to thorin and azog, make it a revenge story. Original 'bolg' style Azog isn't expressive enough - solution is too turn him into an old man. PJ can't make up his mind regards Azog - solution is to CG him over Yazneg when the design is at a place he actually likes. Bolg is now made of prosthetics instead of CG, and looks much older and tougher than Papa - solution is to make Bolg a younger CG design. Switch to three movies requires last minute character changes to fill out the story, so Azog and Bolg are swapped for the second movie. Is there anything else in their story? It's a saga worthy of song! I bet there'll be more knock on effects in BoFA, too. Crikey. I still maintain that a far simpler solution would be to have thorin kill azog in the flashback, and make bolg the sole villain - an orc seeking revenge for his father's death would make an interesting couerpoint to Thorins own quest. Not too complex for the casual movie goers, but not as timeline warping as the current example. But I gotta say, Azog has grown on me a lot, and I do like him. I just like my idea better, but I would, wouldn't I? I wonder if the GW version will have his bow and morgul arrows, or just keep with the mace profile that exists now. I hope the former - BoFA is going to be a chunky book anyway, and that's the way I like it. |

The metal in the chest arrangement is a bit weird. Maybe he is afraid of tickles? |

Either that, or he makes some money on the side as a cheese grater. Not a big fan of this Bolg either. Old one wasn't perfect (beard looked strange, and he desperately needed some pants), but at least he was scary. This one has the face of a chimpanzee. |

It's like Wolverine - he slides his belly-claws out when he needs them. |

The original Bolg design and more importantly actual movie character was in my opinion one of the best, if not the best evil character on screen I saw period. Im so vastly upset they took that one away. I hate this look/sculpt. |

Makes more sense than a bearded orc. TBH, I liked neither, but would have preferred an actor in latex than more CGI. And what's with the metal sticking out of his rib cage?? The Hobbit series is to the LotR as Star Wars 1-3 are to 4-6. Too much green screen, too much wacky action, too much bending of the original canon. It breaks my heart to confess it, but I'm close to being a hater. |

I believe it was from an article speaking on the evolution of Bolg and Azog's characters for the films. Tbh it's been a while but I remember reading that and thinking "Wow! New favorite LOTR villain" |

Alright, maybe they mention it in the Appendices or whatever it was for AUJ, I'll have to check that out. |
