This jas come around with GW not being able to produce a smaug model due to their agreement with new line cinema that all models must be of right likelyness and scale. Other models rumoured to be done are the necromancer, sauron and even terrain.
Note this is just rumours at the moment. |

couldnt agree more ^^^ just think this is pure speculation with imho nothing serious to it, games workshop have been put in doubt over things such as mumaks, balrog and other monsters and have had the models made to great quality, game size scale and a fair price tag (not starting ww3) |

If this is true, it's better than not getting a Smaug model at all. |

If it is true we can expect to see some amazing models coming out. I hope so, but also want to see Smaug released in plastic. |

If smaug is forgeworld, it'll be the same price as a thunderhawk/ manta. So £350+ GW smaug I'll buy FW smaug I won't buy. |

Luckily Necronspurs2012 is a unreliable rumor mongerer. |

I'd much rather have a FW Smaug that no Smaug at all. |

I'm more than up for a FW Smaug. Storm Giants would be welcome. |

Hmmm. If this rumour is true, then GW is using FW to get passed the other rumour of WB not allowing them to reduce Smaug's scale. They can't produce a model of that size, but FW can. But... There's a reason they would have wanted to produce a smaller smaug in the first place. A two/three foot long smaug is no gaming piece - realistically. I'm sure some of the very highly talented painters on this forum and wider community could do some amazing (AMAZING) things with that. But three things would mean that I wouldn't be willing to pick this up: size (I have tight space as it is without trying to find a home for a dragon that's longer than my dog), gaming (i don't buy to paint, mainly because of reason 3), and painting (i'm not that great - certainly not good enough to do justice to a smaug of that scale and price). Terrain though, sure, that sounds great. Maybe they could re-issue the old fortress sets they did for helms deep and Minas Tirith. I'd grab a necromancer, too, depending on practicality. |

Would Forgeworld be capable of making Smaug? - I would say yes. Could it ever be used as a gaming piece? - unlikely due to the likely size, weight and sheer awkwardess of the beast (ease of damage occurring). Note I said unlikely, not impossible, as there are some loonies who might go for it What price? Pure speculation - depends on size, licensing surcharge, low volume production run so very high overheads per model. The bottom end, all in resin for an 18-24 inch dragon could be £250 and upwards. I would add £100 for every 6 inches bigger than that as a low-end guideline. I am basing this guessimate on the prices of other large pieces such as titans, and most interestingly, the Tyranid Harridan which comes closest in shape and size to the lower end of the scale (at £235). Would I go for it? Hmmm. To be honest, if it was a really good representation of the movie Smaug and big enough to eat mumakil for breakfast then I would be very, very tempted. But also being honest, I would prefer a good plastic kit. |

Look at the price of Tau Manta to have an idea, if the rumor is true I expect 1000£ + being of the same lenght and bulkier ( Tau manta=960 £ ) |

You dont think that games workshop with the price of 100$ for a Mumak wouldnt already release a Smaug thats the same price? Look at the % in increases already. As for the pt value.....Smaug stats cant be made up by Forgeworld anyway. GW can still put out stats for him and let other ppl build the model. As for the time being, why worry if they make one. GW clearly isnt doing it anyway. They're late. Let someone else...... |

Besides it would be more like £250 or £350 anyway. And a 750pt model as in size-wise, if Smaug was a little smaller, his profile would be a little weaker, say 500pts which is still viable. |

@Cuchulain84, Yes, but Sauron is even more powerful and still under 500pts. It's viable. |
