Fortunately, this doesn't affect most WotR plastic boxes. However, the Fighting Uruk-hai (the 10 pikes, 10 shields box) will be going up from £13.50 to £16.50, so LotR/WotR mostly got away from this one without too much of a problem.

Having said that, Ringwraiths are now the same price as a whole damnable box of troops!!

This is the end for LOTR for me now, their stat-creep models put the final nail in the coffin and more price rises now buries it and covers it with earth, on to historical gaming for me.

I am glad I bought enough for a couple armies when WotR first came out.

This way I dont have to hope beyond hope I can find someone who will be rich enough to play years from now.

I know I certainly wont be rich enoughto continue buying years from now if the pricing trend continues as it has for the past decade.

10-15% every year like clockwork is not something that is sustainable. Especially when a lot of those older models which were made 20 years ago are on the list of price increases (non lotr related). Laughable.

GWs last price rise in metal stopped me buying their metal products. Their last plastic price rise stopped me buying their plastic products.

About six months later I started buying again due to the exchange rate. Thanks to the weak GBP and strong AUD, I can get GW stuff 50% below Aussie retail simply by ordering from Wayland Games in the UK. So I do.

I'm out the moment that rate swings back. So keep Labour in! Or a weak coalition! The last thing GW needs is fiscal responsibility from anyone, be that gamers or government!

Same for me, I'll keep playing though, but I won't buy new lotr miniatures.
2nd hand miniatures maybe, but not new.

Up to warlordgames to buy some roman soldiers then..

I saw a post about the price increase on another website a day or two ago. The main source seems to be the one store in the UK. It has been mentioned the 'need' to raise prices in the UK as they are cheaper than the prices in other parts of Europe. I hope that this means that only the prices in the UK are going to increase.

Other miniature lines are looking very attractive, such as Wargames Factory.

I am here to dash your hopes against the rocks, I am afraid.

US retailers have chimed in to those same threads stating that GW has a price increase set but no info on what though. So they may very well be different codes, but considering past trends, I doubt it. In other words possible but not probable.

Are KIDDING me? This is insane! And with no gaming retailers nearby, the Star Wars Saga Edition ending, this is essentially killing off my gaming habits! I feel like a piece of me is dying.....

Why? Why! WHYYYYYY? :-X

Well, look on the bright side: not everything is being raised.

Hopefully it's a hoax to persuade us to buy loads of stuff quickly... hmm, it's not very likely, is it?

This is really a sad trend. Thank goodness for ebay and paint stripping. I mean, when some of these models are several years old, why spend prime price buying an over-inflated box of plastics new. And as they raise prices and people leave the hobby there is always nice lots going up.

... Not very likely.

It's not that bad, it's only on some metal miniatures. Hardly any of the plastic boxes will have their prices raised. It's really not as bad as last years.

No, not that bad at all!

See, all we need now us a couple of morally conflicted vigilantes to attack GW with an army of bunnies and lower prices for the rest of the models.

It seems that a lot of people are taking this very badly for LotR/WotR. To be honest, those that ONLY play one or both of those games are getting off VERY lightly (unless you want nothing but fighting Uruk-hai and/or metal miniatures, in which case you're buggered). LotR models ahev been far better value than their other stuff since if first came out, but it's Fantasy and 40K players getting hit the hardest and they will see far more players drop out, especially with the 8th edition release trying to bulk out armies and favour more models (as well as 3k points seeming to be the average game size, instead of 2k).

I'm not priced out of buying LotR models yet, although I shall almost invariably get them online from discount retailers as, even with their 20% off, they're still a wee bit expensive. As for 40K and Fantasy, it's no more of either for me it seems.

Anyone want some Eldar before I sell it for HUGE monies? ^^

Well, we've certainly seen worse price-hikes in the past, although this one does hit me especially hard because I'm not really collecting armies right now, just filling out my characters so the price hikes on metals is gonna hurt.

Still, I've been disenchanted with GW as a company for a long time, and really only make sparse purchases, so in the end I can't see it affecting me too much. I quit buying new stuff for the other systems a looooong time ago, but I feel bad for those who are trying to get started or building on their armies.

Hey..... wait...

Maybe GW's doing this to scare away WH and 40k players, abd bring them to the LotR Games?
