So no one rulebook to rule them all.... damn.... I was hoping I might possibly get to make that joke but no luck I guess....

Now I can only cross my fingers and hope that finecast will become obsolete and that they revert back to metal before the hobbit comes out.

Guys, I was wondering something. Seeing that the first Hobbit film is expected to be released December next year, I was just wondering if anyone could give an approximation of when these Hobbit miniatures will start to be released, based on when the original LotR miniatures were released in comparison to FotR's screen date. I got in during the Return of the King film, but maybe a veteran remembers--when were the FotR miniatures released? A couple months before the film, during the screening of the film, after the film's screening...?

One just has to look at the cast list to know what new models will be coming out. That should also give us a good idea of what models will be reissued as well. For Example Radgast the Brown should be reissued so the model looks like the actor playing the part I would assume. Balin, Thranduil, and The Necromancer are all in the new movie so we should have new models for them that look like the actors. I also noticed that Dain is not mentioned in the cast list and he has a important part in the battle of the five armies, But Thror and Thrain are mentioned and they are only mentioned in passing in the story. I hate waiting....

The November issue of White Dwarf had the new game in it so it was about a month before.

So, Matyc...in about a year, we should be seeing The Hobbit minis, if GW history repeats itself?

I dont believe for a moment ant pictures of Smaug will be released until 2013, look at the FOTR film, Gollum was used as a hook, show a slight part of him and leave us waiting a year, any bets Peter Jackson is going to do the same with Smaug. Especially as the Dragon does not appear until the second half of the book. We will probably get a glimpse at the end of The Hobbit Part 1.

GW wont be allowed to release to early ,so i cant see the shops getting ready until late October/early November 2012.

Well they might do a prologue of Smaug raising Erebor and Dale to the ground. The story which Thorin recounts to Bilbo & co.

I suppose it's because Dain only appears in the second half, so he'll not be on the cast list for the first film.

I will be buying Barry Humphries as the Great Goblin. And be painting it in a pink colour scheme, feathers make good eyelashes. But I wonder what I could use for some snazzy glasses?

I would just use green-stuff. 'Tis what I used for my Saruman's sunglasses. He is now Saruman the Cool. Be afraid...

And I am most excited... Ah, the Hobbit shall be a most glorious day for my armied (particularly my poor evildoers- they tend to get shafted). And elves from Thranduil's Halls! Wonderful!

Like.

Thranduil's Halls could include maybe another female fighting elf.

Rivendell might get the elf called Lindon (played by Bret McKenzie).

My thinking was more like "I wonder when the visual style for Esgaroth will get leaked so I can build it out of historicals"....

Sounds like they're withdrawing all the old figures - by which, I guess they're revising some and reboxing everything.
Scale is absolutely, definitely the same: "we would never make our old figures obsolete"
LOTR & WOTR combined in one book. PLus a totally new book for the new range.
I'm sure there's lots more information will leak out soon.

Bluewater clear everything old out and introduce a new, bigger LOTR/WOTR table in Jan, so given that Wayland are remaindering the old boxes, my guess is some of it, at least, will be launched in Jan.
Cheers, Paul, aka the Troll-father

This goes right along with them repackaging/upping the prices of their figures, as discussed in another thread.

This will never happen - they aren't buying any more tin (can't blame them, with the way tin prices are) so I'm afraid the days of metal minis are gone for good.

I want profiles to convert minies for, mainly. Oh, and Dwarves of the Iron Hills with a proper Dain. And Elven Riders. And Smaug. And Bilbo. And Men of Lake-Town (unless I can easily convert something). And a lot more, now I think of it.
