Eowyn does look really great. One of my favorite minis in the range too.

Thanks all!

Its been a couple of weeks, but I have not been idle :)

Sourced a few more Wood Elves, aiming for individual poses. A few weapon adjustments and so on. Pictured below is the sword line captain and a conjurer; I've added the same sash as my Wood Elf heroine - thinking of a kin link there.

Image

The Sword captain uses a carved Goblin knife and Gondor blade arm, replacing his cross chest spear (I had doubles of this pose), the conjurer uses the Moria set, Gandalf's stave end. I'll be adding more details to both.

At this point, I'm of the mind this is a travelling warband that will escort a High Elf hero and retinue (The HE earlier) into the Southlands.

Having acquired some Rangers; I'll be carving and cementing more plastic soon while adding further details to the above.

Had the good fortune to acquire Sourcebooks for Harad, Arnor and Mordor recently too. My long journey begins in earnest :)

Continuing on, I've been converting up some more characters who will eventually meet up in the South.

Dernulf, the Outcast.
Image
Dunlending body with the arms of Gamling. More accessories to be added.

Born of a daughter of Rohan, raped by a Dunlending raider, his life was long set to be ostracised. During his difficult youth, he was given guidance by an outpost officer of the guard and soon brought into the fold as a bodyguard of the noble families. Eventually he has become trusted to see to tasks in the name of Rohan far afield, which suits many whom still abhor his origins and the sight of him.

Ambassador of Gondor
Image
Moria Boromir, with torso swtiched out and Gondor warrior arms added, with Gandalf's sword from the Moria set; some putty work for new hair and cloth for both arms to be done

A young, brash officer of the white city. Sent to assess the threat and numbers of enemy moving about the South. He travels with a small escort, which he will discover is woefully inadequate for what lies ahead.

More soon :)

Blimey, these are excellent. I keep thinking that surely by now just about every conversion possible with LOTR models has been done or attempted. But I am constantly being proven wrong! Great to see folk getting creative!

Thanks Oropher :) Aiming to be as creative as I can with this lot. The more I work on the figures the more ideas I'm getting.

Greetings, Seb, and welcome to the One Ring! I am just now seeing your work because of the technical difficulties with the site. I am enjoying every new miniature you post and reading the reasoning behind some of your choices.

Hello Erunion :) Thanks for reading! Been great to sign up here and see everyones work.

I have not been idle during the site outage - my latest:

Image

As mentioned before I have been working on Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game forces for a campaign series. This is my quickly expanding Gondor force; black and silver is not as easy as it looks to do fast.

I have filled out a small force of swordsmen, bowmen and spearmen. There were two rangers in a eBay win, badly glued and painted; so I salvaged them and gave them a hunting dog; to become the forces' scout element.

Image Image

A few modifications snuck in; the veteran leader with Arnor origins (helm), a horn muscian..

Image

and even a fully scratchbuilt pair of seige crossbows; some heavy firepower for dealing with very big foes. I'll be converting up the crew for these as I discovered the metal version were mammoth by comparison.

Image

More soon on this project, it's been great fun so far!

Thank you Nevinsrip :) Will keep 'em coming - turns out I have a patrol into the mountains this week, some goblins needing sorting out (tutorial games against a moria player)

Appreciate the feedback Karavatis; I'm hoping to change my lighting set up; future photos should be even more accurate :)

Presently working on slate boulder terrain to go with my newly acquired Realm of Battle table. Big hobby times ahead!

You mentioned cementing your minis together. What are you using? I use super glue which does a fine job, but if there is a better option, I would like to know about it. Thanks!

Hi Jdizzy :)

I use super glue also, in fact most often; however on occaision I use a careful dot of styrene glue - melding parts together for extra strength.

Outstanding. Converting is one of my favorite aspects of building a force. Some great idea's here. The painting is fantastic as well.

Cheers Sithious! :) Yah - I can't resist modding where I can; favourite thing to do also - I'm slowly getting braver with these delicate, rare models.

As I work on more figures for my Lord of the Rings collection, I’ve begun preparing terrain to suit my Realm of Battle board; which for now, suits the Southern realms quite well.

My ultimate goal is to render the surface with coffee ground cover and repaint, with added rocks and scenery details. For now though, it is a decent gaming surface.

Which required a little cover..

Image

One of my goals was to set them up so they can link closely, but also stand alone as hard cover outcroppings of rock; for example, my Gondor warriors moving through broken ground:

Image

Or the patrol force Scouts spying a passing trio of Orcs, observing the foul creatures from afar..

Image

Satisfied the danger is past; they move on..

Image

Now.. only have to make like a dozen more :D

Hi All,

Well, fun times of late; had two games learning the rules with plenty of mistakes and amusing events in the games. You can read about that here on my long running hobby blog.

Continuing my southern campaign, I completed the Wood Elf heroine, however I further modified her; she now wields her Elven blade one handed, with a second on the draw; as if ready to dart a swift counter blow.

Image

Her companion a slight Elf user of magic, has had a new head added, pouch and general putty work also to add a folded hood to his cape.

Image
Image

Presently building up the courage to do some detailing on his robes as befitting his rare skills.

The recent Gondor hero is heavily converted now; I spent a good hour using Greenstuff to scuplt up arms and additions; images soon.

Further - I've begun on a force of Orcs and goblins whom shall be a raiding force that they have many encounters with over the campaign. Pictures soon (though some are already on my blog).

Thanks again!
- Seb.
