i am considering making a Rohan village style house with a thatched roof, but don't know what to use for the roof. I saw one person use teddy bear/fake fur and others use 'unwound' rope/twine. Does anyone have a suggestion or a technique that produced nice results? thanks

(if i did use the fake fur, what length should i get it in?)

I use short teddy bear fur. There are several useful links on the above post. One for towels that is also good.

I would concur with the teddybear fur, works very well:

I used Scouring pads, spliced in half and cut in strips to get a Thatched Roof for my Rohan Tower.

I have heard of that too. I have never tried it. Do you have a link or a photo?

I haven't painted it yet. I'm uploading the a video of it on YouTube. I got the idea from 'The Kamloopian'. He had a whole bunch on suggestions on thatched roofs. Here's his video

And here is what it looks like before painting

 I like his videos. His accent is as bad as mine. Lots of good info :!: I saw that but could not find the pads he uses.

Go to the dollar store and get the thin pads or ones attached to sponge. Just rip it off the sponge and then divide the pad in half, cut it up and glue it on. It comes apart in layers so its quite easy to do.
