Raggbur: You seem REALLY desperate for the Stone Giant, lol :D

Still, good to know at least one model coming out and I fully expected Goblin/Dwarf command. I doubt it'll be a smith or anything that people have been suggesting, purely because these are released primarily for WotR, with a rules-release in WD. Will the Dwarfs get a musician? Will the pack be more like the Easterlings, where they get a Shieldbearer (new model [preferably. The current one loks odd]. Easterlings have Shaman instead) instead of a musician? Those are the things we should speculate on more :D

Well, I'm not a Dwarf-Goblin collector and a Giant is the only thing that really APPEARS in the books. I was also quite querios about how a Lotr Giant would look so... And another drake/dragon thing pff... It don't appears in the books and we see dragons in every fantasy rage. When they start with that, there will come a fire dragon, a water drake and so on until it's not Tolkien enymore.
But about the new dwarf command... I'll gess a smith or something like that

Apparently they aren't doing the giant yet because they don't know if it will be in the movies. As for the drake, Merry's horn came from the horde of Scatha the Worm who lived in the Misty Mountains, I believe that's the source for the cave drake.

I guess Smaug wasn't a dragon then?

Keep in mind that The Hobbit was written before the Lord of the Rings.

Back on topic, I'm definately buying the drake to add to my army. It should look nice next to my Dragon.

I think if I were to get a drake, it would only be for the painting experience that it offers. Other than that, I have little need of one. However, this release may give me the kick in the backside that I so desperately need in order to begin collecting dwarves and goblins.

So maybe the drake comes in a blister and the giant in... In that case I think the giant will come with Hobbit-release (whenever that will be).

That's certainly possible, as the Giants are actually mentioned in the Hobbit, but not at all in the LotR.

I mean there weren't any drakes in the Lotr or Hobbit books, aybe some in the First era-stories, but because GW is reflecting 3d era battles... Anyway I knew there where dragons in Tolkiens books, that was not what I ment.
I just won't like it if there will start to appear fire dragons, water dragons, earth drakes and that kind of warhammer stuff in lotr games.

Raggbur: Warhammer doesn't have specific types of dragon like that, except int he High Elf book, really... The differences between the dragons is purely where they're from (Chaos ones have been mutated by Chaos, hence two heads. Forest ones are forest spirits, black ones are from Naggaroth and others are normal).

Why would that ever happen? GW are fully aware that WFB and LotR are different and have stuck to Tolkien's work very closely.
Also remember that GW can't release anything with the Tolkien estate's say-so.

I understand now, mate. Drakes are very 1st age and only crop up in Tolkien's other works.

I'm actually with you man. I'm almost certainly not going to get it, but I just want to see what it looks like. That being said...

GW has stuck faithfully to Tolkien for the most part, and I have to give them props, after all these years, there is still more of a definitive vibe of LotR-ish-ness in their minis and games than there is in most of the LotR video games. Some of the stuff they make is not in keeping with the source material, and yes, some of that stuff does tick me off, but if the LotR systems are to survive, they are going to have to continuously expand the range, understandably. In this way, the drake is justifiable, as it is a creature that had existed in Middle-earth (if I'm correct) at some point in early history and GW needs to keep producing miniatures lest the LotR range be abandoned.

All we know is that there is (almost certainly) going to be two metal boxed sets and three metal blisters.
