Painting Challenge: Buhrdur!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the thread for the first Monthly Painting Challenge of the new year!

Rules

1. A miniature is decided upon before each monthly painting challenge, this months' being Buhrdur. It is not required that you paint this mini, however it is preferred. Here is a list of miniatures you can paint for this months' painting challenge, in order of preference:

* Buhrdur
* Cave Troll
* Isengard/Mordor Troll

2. To enter the painting challenge, the miniature you are painting must not be painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniature 'pre-painted' (unprimed, undercoated or if you are repainting and old miniature - in its' original paint scheme).

3. You may join the painting challenge in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of the completed miniature by midnight GMT of February 28th, 2011. WIP images are welcomed and encouraged.

4. Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the challenge. The challenge winner will be decided by the vote of the OR community. The community will choose one winner and one runner-up from the completed miniatures. Votes should be cast not simply on painting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of painting techniques, artist improvement, etc. In previous painting challenges, the winner and runner-up recieved prizes in the form of gold coins, however with the websites current situation, gold coins are not available to give as prizes, so no prize is available at the moment.

5. Winners from the previous month are able to participate in the next months painting challenge, but they are not eligible to win in consecutive months.

Well I do have a few Mordor Trolls, but I already have my hands full. So.. glad to sit this one out. Can't wait to see the different paint schemes of this mini by other members. I'll be the Simon Cowell of OR when I judge.

My Buhrdur is still on his way from Nottingham but this painting challenge has already kicked my hobby to a high gear. During the past week I have painted six wargs, a warg chieftain, and started painting 12 rangers, which I hope to finish before the Troll arrives. I suddenly got inspiration to collect and paint all the minis for the "Ambush in Rhudaur" scenario from Ruin of Arnor source book so that I can use the troll in a scenario.

Hm might be able to get some cave trolls on monday. (So looking forward to that day - i might get/buy lots of new ones.) Otherwise i only got some leftovers - to paint from my isenguard troll :-D

Wow a whole new pose already separates Edoras' model from the rest of any other Buhrdur. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

That's how my old Buhrdur was LoE, unfortunately I haven't a clue where it us anymore so I've gone and ordered a new one off of eBay. Going to prepare mine and get proof pics up asap.

I thought about doing something like that but decided it was too similar to the cave troll with hammer. You've bridged the gaps nicely.

Thanks guys, can't wait to see everyone else's trolls. He isn't on a base ATM because I am currently building it. He will be in a vignette called "Ambush in Rhudaur", inspired by the scenario of the same name from the Ruin of Arnor sourcebook.

Hm, i have no clue when i can get that cave troll, if i get one... My parents messed it up a bit. They weren't supossed to be at home on monday. (My dad is not supossed to know about it.) Hm and it might be a painted troll.. Not sure if i ll be able to enter. I hope i can.

Not sure if it's gonna be a mordor or isengard troll yet, we will wait and see.........

Time to get off my duff...February is 1/4 past! :shock:

I finished assembling and priming all my trolls. As you can see, Bûhrdur and his friend both already had paint on them, so one of the Mordor Trolls will have to be my entry. I'll try to post some WIP shots if I can remember.
