That's great as he is now a member of my new army and needs painting anyway. The challenge is a great way of helping to reduce my backlog. I'm still painting Theoden from the paining challenge ages ago.

My Theoden that I intended to enter in the challenge is still sat on the hobby desk primed and ready to go, along with the Aragorn, Buhrdur, Gothmog and Gimli... At least the aim of the challenge (to help people reduce their backlog and participate in the community) works for some people, just not me

You MUST have a Captain and at least 1 of the following; Banner Bearer, Hornblower, Drummer (Drummers in Moria's case), Taskmaster, Dragon Knight, Shieldbearer, Kings Huntsmen, Knight of the White Tower or Shaman (War Priest) - max of 1 of each. The new Command models will also count, as shown above. If you really want to include a named Character that fits in properly with the theme, you can do.

So the Maximum for Minas Tirith would be a Captain, a Banner Bearer, a Hornblower, a Knight of the White Tower and Boromir, Captain of the White Tower (or another suitable substitute such as Faramir).

Does that help? It's just a quick explanation of what will be elligible. A clearer and more thought through explanation will be included in next months thread :P

No, unless he's a proxy for an elf hornblower.

As Gothmog said, not really, but you can get round the system by using him as a 'counts-as' elf hornblower if you really do want to paint him.

Ok, so it needs to be a model from a legitimate "Command" blister or box? Hmmm... Easterling Captain and Banner, or Orc Captain and Drummer?

If I'd only seen this before I put the first coat on my Dwarf Captain and Banner...

Correct. You can have more than just an Orc Captain and Drummer as you are allowed to paint their other Command options in addition to them, but only 1 of each. So you can have an Orc Captain, Drummer, Banner Bearer, Taskmaster and Shaman, but not an Orc Captain, Drummer and 2 Banner Bearers.

I hope I can find something interesting to paint. I have 7 models to pick from if I do Minas Tirith Command (I'm spoilt for choice as to which poses), but I'd rather do something different. If I could just find an Easterling Captain. I swear I have one around somewhere, but now that I want to find it...

...its missing, and I'm rather reluctant to convert my Dragon Knight into a Captain. Hmmm....

One last question (sorry to be a bother) can it be a converted model? For example, I'm not a fan of the Easterling's halberd. Could I use a sword and shield from a plastic Easterling to convert the Captain?

Would the Golden King count, as he does count as a banner?

I'm not sure about that. I guess as he counts as a banner then yes I should allow it. Of course you can paint him anyway as the 'themed leader' for the command group (as I described earlier).
