Will all these new LOTR realeases be able to be used in WOTR? Or are they just for the SBG Version?

Only SBG, WOTR will be put aside as a specialist game, so only SBG will remain.

Goblin King = Durburz
Goblin Shaman = Druzhag
Maurauder = Warg Rider
Gorgoroth Beast = Mumak
Watcher = Dunno, Balrog maybe?
Horror in the Deep = Stone Giant
Kataphracts = Kataphrackts

So you can use most of them :D

The guy who originally broke the news of all this stuff in detail has said that all the new figs WILL get WotR stats.

We all have been assuming that means that the two games will just flip how they have been treated by GW. Now SBG will get new releases and books and such and a month later we will get WotR stats in WD and then 6 months or so later those stats will go up on the web site somewhere.

That's good then, cos I only play WOTR and would buy some of the new pieces, but wouldn't obviously if they only made stats for SBG.

Well, you can always "counts-as" them in GW stores and make up your own profile when playing at a club/with friends.

What do you mean by "count as"?

If they don't get WoTR stats by March WD, I will be making up my own, I may post on here when completed.

What I did in my first post, look for profiles that represent the unit, and then use those.

I really hope the do give them WOTR srats, The Misty Mountains really needed more then 2 Epic Heroes so the 2 new Epic heroes are welcome news.

Except they'll probably be exactly the same. Groblog, a goblin king of Moria. Where have I heard that description before? Ashrak, a shaman with an affinity for the MM's beasts. Sounds familiar?

Surely they won't be exactly the same though, otherwise what's the point?

Well, they wil probably have one might and/or fight more or less, and an other special rule, but they will play almost identically, I think.

Not a clue why everyone's deciding that WotR is now a specialist game - if it were, it'd have been mentioned in White Dwarf.

My contacts have said it's an expansion (like Apocalypse or storm of Magic). Logically, how could it be a specialist game? All of the models are already in store, lol :D All they need to sell in addition to what is needed for LotR are 2 types of trays, a rulebook and an expansion book.

As for WotR stats, they'll either be an expansion or a White Dwarf article to get you by.

From just over a week ago, before there was any official announcement or reveal, before the WD hit the stores, or anything.

This is why.

So what does that mean ForgottenLore? That all these new pieces will not be able to be used in WOTR?

Post subject:  Re: New Releases

ON GW site they list WoTR as an expansion not a specialist game. If you argue that its because they use the same models as LOTR SBG, then Inquistour uses some 40k models and Mordhiem uses some WFB models, so that is not initels a good argument.

However, it matter little whether WoTR is an expansion or a specialist game, as iin either event, it will recieve little support from GW.

It means that when Bram was reporting on what was about to happen that he used GW's specialist games line as an analogy to quickly convey the new status between SBG and WotR and everyone latched on to that one comment like it was the most important thing in the world, even when GW officially announced all the stuff and began listing WotR as an expansion (whatever that means).

As I personally have said at least a half dozen times in assorted threads by now, and many others have said the same, what we ASSUME this means is that new models will get WotR stats in White Dwarf a month or two after the SBG stats come out and probably go up on the web site as PDFs 6 months after that.

But we don't KNOW anything about how WotR is going to be supported going forward, it is all just speculation.

Inquisitor is something like double the scale of 40K. People in Inquisitor are 2"+ tall. There is pretty much no possibility for model crossover.

Possibly you are thinking of Necromunda? The 40K universe skirmish game in 28mm heroic scale.

It might be Necromunda, since I don't like any of GW games except the LOTR ones, I pay little attention when people talk about them.
