Hi everyone. Since the hacking back in 2010 (yes it was that long ago), I've been attempting to redevelop the site with a new look - something that gives us the feeling of 'Middle-earth' and also harks back to our old design. But the newer version of our forum software is SOOOO much more complex than the older version and it's taken me a long time to really understand it (I still don't). Coupled with getting busy running a gaming convention, a couple of major terrain projects, and a huge workload at the end of last year, I've not got very far at all. However, I got over a major hurdle this weekend on the site redesign. I can't show you much just yet, but the site is coming along well now. My hurdle involves my ignorance of the newfangled way that cascading style sheets work these days, especially when combined with DIVs - if that means anything to anyone! I am still a bit ignorant of it all, but I did manage to get the banner and top menu displaying properly now (with an embedded search field). Struggling to get that displaying properly was what killed my attempts last time, so getting past that is a bit of a milestone for me. Now I'm working on the look and feel of the forum listings. Once I have a nice looking page, I'll grab a screen shot and post it here. I'm still weeks away from finishing, but it's 'weeks' now, not 'months' and that's a good thing. |

Though I've not been a member long, I have been checking out the site since before the re-vamp, and I too would like to offer my thanks for a good, clean site where one can come and enjoy reading/writing about the hobby we all delight in. My thanks to all of you who have put in so much time and effort at making this place what it is, for it truly would not exist without you. |

Yikes......I hadn't really realized that it has been 2 years already. But, good to hear your over a hurdle. All the technical stuff is really gibberish to me, though I like to think that I am decently techie when it comes to computers....I guess just not in web design.  Anyways, thanks so much for all the hard work you've put into restoring the site over the last couple of years. Especially considering how busy you were with work and other commitments. I applaud your work and hope to see the fruits of it soon-ish.

I can't imagine what the coding must look like! Thankyou for all the time and effort you've put into this over the years and ofcourse more recently! This is a wonderful community, and long may it last on for years to come. To Dagorlaaaaaaaad! (*Downs umpteenth pint...)

I did the original graphic design, but James Braund did the hard work coding it, and now LonelyKnight is maintaining it, so any kudos should go to those two. |

I haven't done much cause I can't seem to figure out how it works  ukrocky added the banner for the sponsor, and Matt was going to take a look at the wordpress but nothing happened so far |
