I made this guy in a day after finally deciding to getting around to doing something with the model. Originally a Fountain Court Guard, the Spear snapped off at the wrist, making it impossible to fix well enough to my liking. So I decided to turn him into a Captain.

I'll be using him as [Berethor], Captain of the Gondor Royal Guard (i.e. Fountain Court Guards). and will use him alongside my General/King Earnur conversion (King of Men).

He was fairly straightforward to make, though a little fiddly at times. I removed the remains of the spear, clipped off the [left] hand from the spear shaft and glued it to the left hand vertically so that he could hold a shield.

I took the right sword arm from the Damrod model (from the Captured in Gondor set) and glued it to the right arm of the GotFC. The cloak was blocking the pommel of the sword, so I used clippers to make a V shaped cut to fit the pommel through. I then used Greenstuff to cover the pommel, to show the cloak flowing over the pommel of the sword. It looks a little rough but I'm satisfied with it.

I think the damrod sword looks brilliant as its larger than the average sword so its very suitable for a Captain (especially a Captain of the Royal Guard).

that's an excellent conversion, the pose looks great. if i have a complaint, it's that he looks more than a little surprised

great idea, I like it a lot. Will be a nice unique piece on the board. :D

Nice one thought i believe blue would fit better on the cape and silver on the shield...

Ah yes. It is an old model originally painted 3 or 4 years ago. The spear broken a year ago, and I've just gotten round to fixing it. Unfortunately, the Skull White paint I used to paint the eyes was starting to dry out, so the reason the eyes look so large is because theres lumps of paint on them, causing them to bulge outwards. I also did not use a small enough brush at the time.

Still, my paining skills since then have improved drastically, especially with my Raven Guard Space Marines.

Maybe. But the colours of my Gondor army (currently being repainted) is going to be a bright red, with silver armour and white & gold heraldry on shields and banners etc (i.e. White tree with gold stars).

Thanks. The main colour of the army will be red though, so perhaps not as unique as you probably think.

Ok. So it would look different. I just painte my warriors of Gondor, Dwarf Bronze :-D
