Just something I threw together tonight. Im basing it once the putty finishes drying in the oven. By far one of my favorite moments in the books. Its one of the Hobbits last true moments of innocence and one of the last time they could sleep without a care. Which to me was the whole point of Frodo's sacrifice so other people could live without fear. The Fox is coming. I thought about just molding everyone to the dio but whats the fun in that? Now I have 5 gaming markers, 3 sleeping hobbits a camp fire and a fox :) I will use something other than my Droid for the finished pictures to show off the detail.

Got the dirt on there and my fox armature...he looks like a little dinosaur right now but the tail is just anchoring the spine in place while the glue sets, and then I'll clip off the extra wire at the anchor point. Putty tomorrow im done for the night.

I'll add the dirt to the fox's base once he's sculpted.I need to add a little more putty around Frodos base its a little too gappy. For once I wish the bases werent beveled then I could do a more seemless gap but it should blend in once I get some leaf litter and moss in around those tree roots

This looks like a fantastic piece, it has worked out well so far. The stuff is putty you say? Thought it was plaster for a moment. I agree it's quite the peaceful scene as The Fellowship of the Ring is one of my favourite movies, more so than the others.

Thanks! the white stuff is all "Paper Putty" the package doesnt say what its made from but its very light weight and pretty cheap but holds detail pretty well...I like it for some projects because it usually drys slightly rough in texture. Just messing around with it. I will probably be using green stuff for the fox since that has to be a bit more durable than a blanket.

bit of an update got the fox sculpted up and the whole thing base coated. He may look a little bland now but the paint will really make it pop. Also this is probably going to be the first time I paint the dirt first over the figures. They are so tiny I think its safer to cover the base first and then go back and paint them. Anyways :) hope you like it.

Great work. The fox is really nice as is the whole scene. You've done a great job at conveying the peacefulness of the scene.
I really like the detailed work on the ground. The wood chips, if that is what they are, look great and the moss is a nice touch.
Keep up the good work, I'm looking forwards to seeing more.

Really beautiful work. :yay: :yay: Sculpting on the fox is outstanding. Attention to detail first class. People on this forum do some amazing work. JRRT would be proud.
