Fantastic, the fellowship look great together. I can only echo other comments on the Master. Very inspiring stuff. |

Lovely work on the Master, I have that one to do also and hope I can get mine somewhere near to yours. |

I just checked out your entire blog. You're one of the best painters I've ever seen. Everything is amazing. |

The Fellowship appeals to me a bit more probably because of the greater range of sizes and styles among the minis - Thorin & Co look great too but my heart still goes to The Gandalf Walking Club |

It's been a frustrating week so to treat myself I decided to paint one of my favourite models. The face is mostly done bar a few touchups. For the hair I want to paint something more realistic than usual. The sideview shows where I've started to work out the highlight placement. ![]() ![]() |

Looks great. Gone for all black priming? |

I felt like a change was necessary and switching to a black primer forced me to think a bit more about my painting rather than going through the motions. |

Those eyes follow you around the room.... ![]() Very neatly done! |

The hair is looking very realistic so far, well done on that! I do think that the eyes are almost a little into the 'googly eyed' look though. I think that there is a little bit too much white left over. |

I think that there is a little bit too much white left over. Yeah, I overdid the reflection on the eyeball a little. Also, the iris isn't being picked up by the camera that well. |

Excellent. I was having trouble with a suitable shade for the green on my own version, what sort of colors did you use! |

The midtone is battledress green, shaded with umbral umber, and highlighted with jack bone all P3 colours. Here's the finished model. I could have spent a few hours more smoothing the blends and picking out more details but I had a small accident and once I had fixed that I decided to call time. |

Looks great as usual. I struggle with Legolas every time I paint him. Lol I hate small accidents. |

Well done, he looks quite good. I don't know if you did anything with the eyes, but they look better. |

The frustration I was having with my painting continued for a bit longer after my last post. At the risk of full on burnout I made a few changes to my painting style with Bard the bowman being the first finished model. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I am not a fan of this model (or maybe I just don't like trench coat bard at all?) But I think you did a good job on him. The highlights are subtle in transition but pull of a nice contrast to pick out the raised details. The fact that he is all muted browns and still all the parts are recognizable should at least make you happy. |

nice job in making those browns look extremely realistic. Most use extremely sharp highlights that make it look unnatural. The one thing I hate about this mini's sculpt is the mustache. It looks like a hippie Hitler is defending laketown lol |
