Nice work on the eyes there. That's a skill I'm still to even attempt.

I love Clansmen of lamedon and yours looks very nice. Never bought any and if I did I probably wouldn't have done the tartan.( Would have just painted it blue cause I'm lazy and suck at painting)

Very nice painting, my friend! I especially love the minis you did up for the wedding cake!

Fantasic model, and fantastic painting. Feel proud to be Scottish here, hehe. I have a similar coloured kilt actualy, blues, greens and purples. :D

If anyone is interested I used this website as a guide: http://www.angelfire.com/tx/ToySoldier/tartan.htm. I slightly varied the method by putting down black lines first before the green using black ink.

Only 55 days to go! Thanks to the husband of the cake maker our miniature counterparts will be tying the knot underneath the white tree of gondor.

My three clansmen are finished.

The bald guy had a mould line right down his face which I decided to turn into a scar as filing would have been awkward. I haven't decided how I'm going to base this army. I think the battle of pelannor fields was in early spring so maybe a greener grass than what I use would be more appropriate.

I've been testing out some new schemes this week:

I used some pigments and washes to give a weathered look to the warriors of minis tirith

Nothing too exciting on my dunedain just trying to keep the colours natural looking

I've reworked my standard scheme Beregond taking inspiration from this painting http://bit.ly/gXge5D

Finally how do I edit the topic title? It's a bit misleading at the moment.

Thanks, I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I may use it on my fountain court guards as well or use a totally different combination. I'm not too concerned with maintaining a coherent look as the main aim of this collection is to go outside of my painting comfort zone.

A couple of weeks ago I collected my bgime collection from my parents' house and have been using the excellent paining guides; having the colour recipes speeds the process a lot which is useful since I'm planning on repainting all of the metal figures.

At the beginning of the year I set myself the task of improving my painting skills. Whilst I was pleased to finish my Rohan army I felt I had plateaued and become too reliant on washes. Three months into the year it's time to see what I'm capable of and set a benchmark for further improvement.
