Nice Gandalf Matt! Where do you find the inspiration to paint so/sculpt so much? :P

Yeah, Cruci, but I suppose it's part of the process :D

Gandalf's finished now, just finished priming his wing-ed steed :P

You have there a model I think everyone on this forum is envious of. And the standard of painting on Gandalf is amazing too. Wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow. Need I say more?

Why didn't the fellowship ride eagles into Mordor? It would of saved alot on travel expenses.

Stop being silly! :P
Because eagles are no cabs, but proud and majestic animals. And Gwaihir only offered help to Gandalf 3 times because Gandalf saved his life before. Giant birds carrying the ring(bearer) would have been easy to spot and even easier prey for the dark forces and especially the Nazgul! Also the great eagles were engaged in other battles in the north at that time if i remember correctly.

Very nice, the paint job is both perfect in itself - so Gandalfesque, but it also reveals how amazing your sculpting is. Fantastic you are.

:yay: :yay: :yay:

If you can't get eagles, why not bears with lazer eyes?

Haha I wouldn't go that far but thanks a million! I think most people are more envious of whatever mysterious unreleased monster DMS has got his spectral paws on...

You're not the first person to suggest that:

Rognarr's right, though!

Thanks a lot, samoht! I hope you like Gwaihir too, once he's done! :)

*Sigh* If only Boromir had had them at Amon Hen, he might never have needed to die :/ Great pic!!!

Once again thanks everyone!

I've been trying out some different colour schemes for Gwaihir and gone with the following:

(The underbelly's feathers aren't finished yet)

I wasn't too sure about the goldish-brown for the body and top row of feathers at first, but I think it looks quite regal, very befitting of the Windlord himself. Very curious to hear what anyone thinks about the choice of colours and if anyone would like a painting guide please let me know!

Thanks a lot, Chris! That wasn't my intention haha, I think I just got lucky with my choice of colours, it took me three goes though :) I'm sure your eagle rules, don't think I've seen it, though... :S

I personally think it all looks good, I especially like the golden brown feathers. Gandalf also looks good, very nice conversion.

Cheers for the input PoW!

*Drumroll* My first semi-scratch-build-slash-conversion-project has been completed and here it is!

And a cheeky close-up of Gwaihir's face because I had a lot of fun painting it and I'm really proud of how it turned out!

DONE! C&C welcome as always! Thanks again for following my project!

Now I just need a fitting base before the end of the month...
