I like that you have done the darker grey part of her garment that we see when she is first introduced in the movie. I'm about to paint my one and I thought about it then decided not to because it would take up a lot of the model. That said, I may just do it too, to save myself painting so much plain white.

The graininess on the surface is a real pain in the a$$ on Galadriel. I don't mind it so much on other models, but the idea of it on this particular model just really bugs me into thinking I can't do her justice with it.

Thanks for posting Galadriel - it's really going to help me get into gear and do mine.

I turned the excellent age of 32 years of age this week for which my wife surprised me with the Goblin Town set. Given how little progress I have made with Dark Vengence and Sedition Wars on its way I'll need to be a lot more efficient with my painting to avoid having lots of grey plastic lying around.

With this in mind I started with the goblins and used simple layering going for quick and dirty high contrast. This is my first attempt:

I've also started on Baron Harkonnen:

Dain Ironfoot was 32 years old when he slew Azog; an excellent age indeed 8)

These all look incredible! I think you've done Bolg better than I have. I despise Narzug, but you've done a great job of him!

Narzug has a very angular chest. Possibly a consequence of this finecast nonsense. It seems strange that these days I'd much prefer to buy plastic which in one sense is testament to the progress made by gw in that material but also how disappointed I am with their switch from metal.

The goblin king is finished apart from the base. I rushed the final details but it seems so rare these days that I get models close to a standard that I'm happy with before losing interest that I'm not too worried about the lack of highlighting on some areas.

Spectacular painting in this, The Great Goblin looks more evil than he did in the films. And your Galadriel looks like galadriel, rather than Cersie like GW's paintjob is.

Yes, i can relate to this. I have to have three different things going on in order to complete one. I get tired of painting one thing so i switch to something else for a while. Ex. I am working on a foot and mounted rohan banner pair, while pinning a catapult troll, filling gaps on a treebeard and stripping a bunch of models.

Looks really great and threatening! Are you going to paint the eyes or will you leave them like that?

I will repaint them eventually. My first attempts weren't very successful so I'm going to try out different colours on my goblins until I find something that better complements his skin.

did you give Bilbo's coat a dark wash, dry-brush, or under-paint effect?

I used several glazes of a darker red over quite a bright red base adding increasing amounts of black. It's a little dark right now as I still need to bring back the mid tone and the final highlights.

Thanks guys.

I started on Gandalf today:

It's a little rough right at the moment. Just focusing on getting the colour and light balance right then I'll tidy up.
