Thanks guys. I really do need to finish the other Helm's Deep board if I want to do the battle on it. :-D

Here's more pics on the Uruk-hai. Just some close ups and what not. ;)

Enjoy! :-D
More are being painted. Just need to finish the cloth on all of them, add white hands/details and then put some static grass on the bases.
There are so many of them!

I hear ya! I've just finished painting 60 of the little blighters - with 60 more to go! :o

Great painting on the uruks. You made the large banner yourself right? I think I saw that somewhere on this thread. I need to convert some foot soldiers to banner bearers.

Keep going! It will be an army bred for a single purpose......

Thanks edge. :)
I've painted maybe 24 - with +200 left to go! :O Why so many? Helm's Deep. :-D
The banner is a conversion though I don't remember posting it earlier. But thanks. :-D

Absolutely stunning! Great work, they look impressive in a group! I really like your painting style alot.

Could you tell me how you paint the sand on the bases? Looks very good and I'm still struggling to find a color that suits me...so please give me your recipe ;)

Thank you. :)
It's quite simple actually. :-D Wash the base with Black mixed with white glue (gives it more strength to hold together) then, once that is completely dry, take some white and drybrush that on. ;) Paint the rims Black and add chosen basing material (Battlefields Steppe Grass in my case). Very easy if you ask me. :-D

Wow! 200+ - you've got your work cut out. I have 120 plastics and probably 50-60 metals to do. I'm thinking I won't do a Helms Deep diorama just to be different. I'm currently torn between an attack on Edoras or even Rohan riding out to attack the Uruks at Orthanc (it would be cool to build this!).

Can I ask how you did the banner conversion? Did you use green stuff for the cloth of the banner? Looks great whatever it is.

I think you should do Edoras! I remember playing Battle for Middle Earth and fighting that battle and always wanted to make one. :-D
The banner is actually made from index card cut out and painted with diluted white glue to stiffen it up. The paint also helped with that too. ;) Next time I do a banner conversion though I'm going to use GS as they seem too thin like this and it's hard to make them 'wave-y.'

I just recently bought some heroes to add to both Isengard and Gondor. :D

Thrydan Wolfsbane:

And Cirion and Madril:

Just another small project. :-D
Take a look at this thread: Ghost Archers?

Now that the Warriors of the Dead can benefit from wargear in the new sourcebooks, why not give them an upgrade for bows? :D

I've started on some conversions though they are very unfinished at the moment. ;)
Take a look!

Woah pretty massive project you got going on!

It took me 2 months to painted one uruk and decide my painting scheme, then I hid them and left em for later

Thanks everyone. :-D Probably ghostly arrows that instill fear into the enemy.

Another update on Frodo. Nearly finished with him. Just need to finish the base and do some freehand on the cloak.

Dead archers looking good - what did you use for the bows? I've always liked the idea of dead archers :D Nice Frodo of the Nine Fingers too :D

Post subject:  Re: So it Begins...

Thanks Chris. The bows are made from paper clips straightened out then cut to size before slightly bending them again. :-D

An update on my Mumakil! Finally! :D

Just put more paint on it and the crew but now there's even more paint done! But still need pictures for that. ;)
So as of now, this is the most recent update till I can get those pictures.

holy moley! why have I not seen your thread recently?! Super work on those miniatures, painting is really top notch man. You have a fine large host of Isengard and together they just look menacing. It's very refreshing to see a different colour scheme for the mumakil and suits it very well. You have a great board too, wouldn't mind a game on it myself! keep the updates coming :D
