that's a very nice paint scheme MMS.. I really like the shield colour, though I think the bright shield colour is a bit overwhelming both on the shield and the cloth.. on the other hand a darker or even a different tone on the cloth is gonna put more colours on the mini which I don't know how it will turn out.. Just my opinion though, I could be wrong, I'm not great with colours.. Anyway, whatever you choose I'm sure you gonna do a stunning paintjob on it 8)

I've been thinking about this and I kinda agree with you. I tried dark fleshtone a dark orange/red which in theory would work with the light blue and also a much darker blue. In both cases the colour did work but there was a lack of balance on the model. Basically I need to tie the light blue on the shield to part of the rest of the model otherwise it's not going to look right. And so I'll go back to the original colour for the cloth.

What I'm thinking is that it's not an issue of the colours being the same but rather I painted the colour the same way on two quite different materials. I need to somehow distinguish between the different textures. I have an idea on how to achieve this which if it works well should look pretty darn cool.

On the plus side the metallics are getting a lot easier with practice. One thing I've discovered is that gloss medium is much, much better than water for thinning the paints. The flakes don't separate any way near as much and the gloss add to the shine.

Pale blue is an unusual colour choice for WoMT, but as your oainting is so good, it looks nice :yay:

I've done all of the shading on my infantry. From the test models I think I'll keep the highlights fairly sparse as otherwise the bright spots could overpower the model.

So after spending hours making my armour look all shiny I had a change of heart and will now give them a more battle weary look.

Love it MMS. Dirt is easy enough in small amounts, but making it look good on a wider scale like you have takes skill.

Yeah it's easy to over do. I'll have to go over some of the colours a little and add some sharp highlights as the weathering powder has blurred the details more than I'd like. There's a lot of trial and error with this entry but it's been a lot of fun. There's also satisfaction in taking quite a simple mini like the humble womt and trying to paint it to as high a standard s possible.

It's looking amazingly good (not to mention alive and real) with this scheme.. the realism you breathe into your minis is really unique..
Can't wait to see em all together

Not much of an update today. Most of the warriors are done leaving Beregond, the banner bearer and the rest of the bases to be completed. The main reason for the update is that I have finally learned how to take decent photos of my minis.

After taking some excellent advice from another forum I now have a very complex arrangement of a deep cardboard box lid with a couple of white pieces of paper taped to the side to act as filters and two desk lamps. I then use an image editor to correct the brightness and contrast using the black background as a guide.

I'm still trying to find the sweet spot with my lighting. This process is not helped by having one normal light and one daylight bulb. You can probably notice the difference in the second photo more so. Hopefully I'll be finished in plenty of time to have all of Sunday to get the best looking photos.
