Hey thanks for all the comments guys! :D I really like this dragon model so, even though some say it looks too War-hammer-y I'm still going to try and get it.

Once I get the model. :-D I can't start painting what I don't have. :P

this is definitely too late and i apologise for not seeing this thread sonner or i could have made this point, in the Lord of the Rings: The Third Age (ps2) the stairs at the back of helms deep leading away from the deeping wall lead to a small courtyard surrounded by a low wall with one passage leading back to the main fortress through the mountainside and another passage leading away form the fortress to the glittering caves. i just wanted to get this off my chest and hope that it can be of some assistance to you :)

Hey thanks. This is exactly what I had questions on. And no, it's not too late. ;) I had planned to go back later to redo the parts that weren't how I wanted them to be. The stairs included. I'll probably redo the tower as well: make it taller, reposition it and change the spires on the sides.

Speaking of Helm's Deep, I never uploaded pictures of the tiles added to it and the extra details.

Here are some of the pictures. Need to take more with better lighting.

These first few are the bricks I cut and pasted onto the walls and the process. I used index cards and white glue.

Here is the beginning of the middle tower:

And pics of the courtyard:

More bricks added: (There's no end to these bricks! :o )

The courtyard:

The Hornburg tower:

"I cannot jump the distance, you'll have to toss me!"

The fortress: (Most of it. Don't have any other pictures showing the entire thing. Will take more pictures with models on it.)

And so that is where it stands today. The Senior projects are over and I've graduated high school.
Now with time on my hands I can work at a more leisurely pace. No deadlines to meet and no projects needed to pass. :D
I'd like to thank everyone here for their help in any form or another. Without you guys, I might still be stuck drawing plans and gathering materials right now.
The next item of business for this project is to finish the other board: The Deeping Wall. Well, rather start the board. :-D

Thanks again for all the comments and help. My childhood dream is coming to life before my eyes. :D

If you mean on Helm's Deep, I still need to finish the Deeping Wall board on the left side and then add the King's Throne room behind the keep. And for other terrain pieces, we'll see what I can come up with. Starting with Osgiliath. ;)

Very, very nice! It looks so realistic! Keep up the good work!
Also, I noticed you used the statues from the Osgiliath terrain box, but I found these on eBay:

It's up to you which ones you use ofcourse, but I really liked these statues, they would make it even more realistic, and I thought 'let's share it', so here we go. :-D
According to the eBay user, Helm is 11cm tall and the ruined statue is 5,5cm:
Quote:
You get two factory finished plastic used statues as illustrated in the stock photo. Helm is 11cm tall and the ruined statue is 5.5cm tall. The backs are also textured.

These are second hand (ie used) "spares" from some Play Along's Helms Deep sets I acquired.

These sets were originally released as a LOTR Helm's Deep facade for kids to use with 3" Play Along Action Figures and I am selling off some surplus parts from some of these sets I have obtained.
and so on..

I love it! It's always so fun to see these giants progress. The experience of building Helm's Deep is so fun (but not so much the storage  ). Is that card you used for the bricks? I just carved mine in.

I love this community. It's so supportive. Thank you, everyone. :)
I didn't know they had those statues for sale. I'll definitely be getting those. :D
Yeah the bricks are index cards cut into all those small pieces. :?

I have another update coming as soon as I upload pics to the computer.
Stay tuned. :)

Post subject:  Re: So it Begins...

Why thank you. :)
I aim for the best in everything, though sometimes the results say otherwise. ;)

And so comes the update! :D
To start off, here we have terrain that I've been working on.

Some hedges made from pan scourer. I need to glue them to a base then cut them up to look more hedge-like, then paint them.

And some pre made trees, from Woodland Scenics I believe:

I wanted to see how many models I've accumulated over the past few years, so I set them all up (except those still unassembled or on sprues) into there respective armies. Sort of. :-D Some are just put where I had room on the table. I was planning on counting them, but there's so many! One day.

All my evil minions:

And my loyal servants:

And speaking of Osgiliath...

My first building! :D Well, first one I like. One of the photos above shows the very first one I made with the elves in it.

The Drawing plan:

Progress:

To show the size of the door stop, I mean dome cap.

And where it is now:

I was wondering whether or not to put a roof on before I do the damage on the walls. What's your opinions?
My inspiration for this building came from GW's own model shown here, so the damage will look similar on the walls:

And lastly for this update, we have converted orcs. Just a few pics anyway. :)

The vulture looking spear is my favorite. Also the last orc with bow. :-D

Hope you guys enjoyed the many pictures. :-D
Till next time! :D

whooo Wha Wing terrain! The ruins looking good, however I would lower the windows so that your archers can shoot out.

Post subject:  Re: So it Begins...

I agree with Drum, thw indows need to be low enough for the archers to see out just for the sake of realism, also you have just tons of models, im sure you could make an epic helms deep bettle report...... :-D
