Almost finished:

Image

My plans for the base where disrupted with all the rain of late as I haven't been able to collect stuff from the garden. The painting is not as accomplished as previous models due to the size and time constraints but I'm really pleased with the colours and lighting and this is as close to my mental image as I've managed so far.

Nice painting! Very natural looking use of colours.

I'll be honest though, and I know its not your fault but the position the horse is in looks absolutely ridiculous.

That is simply amazing, even if you stopped now, you have far-surpassed my normal definition of amazing. :D :D :D

Oh and yeas, the horse does appear to be sliding across the ground.

Yeah, I'm not really happy with that either. I guess I just wanted the model finished after spending several hours a night for over a week and rushed into the base. I'm going to take a break, paint some elves and come back to Eomer later on.

If you slightly bent the horses legs into a slightly more normal pose and then made it stand on a rock that slanted forward a bit, then it may improve it a lot.

Yup. Exactly what I did with mine.

Love your Eomer, and having just finished mine, the stance was pretty bad.. I did jam his rear leg under a rock which straightened it a bit, but the horse looks weird anyway you look at it.. love your stuff!

best

Hi guys. I've been doing a lot of rank and file stuff of late - no less than four different armies! - which is kinda fun but also frustrating as I am still finding it difficult to scale back my painting style for a more production line approach. I'm much more happier losing myself in hours of painstaking blendings.

And so last night I picked out a few characters from my unpainted box and got to work.

This picture is pretty blurry - I think I'll have to borrow a proper camera once this is finished - but you get the idea.

More great painting! You must be pretty quick if you have 4 armies on the go all at the same time.

My eyes let me down.

Maybe if you put it on a shield and slide it down some stairs?

That looks absolutely stunning! I love the subtle variation in the colours. Brilliant work MMS. :yay: :yay:

Very beautiful. Can we see your progress on the armies? Perhaps select a few warbands from each and post.

Ha, actually it's more a case of having a short attention span and having far too many uncompleted projects. I'll see about putting some photos up one day - my camera isn't up to the job for capturing groups.

Anyway, I did a little more before I had to go out:

Great work, the subtle tones really do the model justice and give off a very elven, peaceful vibe.
