I managed to catch it just right, haven't seen the sun since (it is Seattle in November) and while a picture in the rain might set a certain mood, I don't think I want to put the board out in the weather. |

Post subject: | Re: Mapper - Bolg's Mace |
I like how GW did their Bolg figure, very menacing. Watching the movie again, I realized that GW did an injustice to Bolg's mace though, they only gave it two prongs instead of four. Made a press mold of the mace, poured some resin and added two more prongs. Still needs some cleanup and maybe a point on the end to jab a dwarf with. |

Trying to figure out what to do with the leftover Hunter Orc heads and weapons. Took an orc body and legs from Wargames Factory, a left arm from their Ancient Germans and leftover head and right arm with sword from the Hunter Orcs. Not bad but I think I would rather have a thinner body. Would these count as hunter orcs or just a different breed of normal orcs? The spike on the end of Bolg's mace is from a weapon from the Wargames Factory orc set. Need to trim and smooth it or just put the pointy end on. Has anybody done anything with the leftover warg heads? On a related note, haven't seen when Warlord Games is going to start distributing Wargames Factory figures. |

Great conversions - I think that's a great improvement on Bolg. I actually have Wargames Factory bits lying around, I might do the same with my spare Orc heads too. Those spare warg heads could be used for dead warts in dioramas I suppose, but other than that I can't think of much use for them either. |

Thanks, I thought about doing something off the wall and putting the hunter orc heads and weapons on Wargames Factory Amazon bodies - a female punk orc warband. But cool heads prevailed, plus I don't have any Amazon bodies.... |

Finished the first batch of Moria Goblins, nothing spectacular, just classic green skin, red cloth. In the Mines of Moria game, they have trapdoors so I took some etched balsa wood and some plastic card to make open and closed trapdoors. Took some mdf and made a couple of three figure stands for the drums and command. Didn't glue down the drum or the Durburz and drummers figures so I could put them on a broken pillar if I wanted. Like I said, first batch of 42 Moria Goblins done, will do some Dwarves next and then some more Goblins. Might have to buy some trackers and prowlers for variety. |

From what I can see on my phone's small screen, those goblins are looking good. I really want to finish my goblins now. |

Trust me, they look better on small screens Just used a green wash and then dab with Lustrian Undergrowth and Stirland Mud to dirty them up. |

Correction on Bolg's mace - his mace in the Desolation of Smaug is as GW and WETA depict it, the Battle of Armies is four pronged and shorter. Ah well, I like the four pronged one better. |

Post subject: | Re: Mapper - Dwarves/chamber entrance |
Painted my first batch of dwarves, went with a dark purple - bronze combination for the dwarves, purple - leather - green/gray cloaks for the rangers. Still haven't done the shading or dull coat yet, need nicer weather. Of course, all outfitted for the expedition: I had a rock mold from Woodland Scenics that was rock on one side and flat on the other. When I first started playing around with LOTR and molds I did this one using the flat side. I wanted the entrance to Durin's Chamber to be more hidden so I used the door mold from the moria mold and used the rock side this time. Think I will finish painting the dwarf rangers next. |

Thanks OmW, it is one of my favorites also, was glad to have a purpose for it. Of course, I failed miserably if I was a model railroader as I didn't paint it to match the background. Any progress on your Raven Hill project? |
