Post subject:  Re: So it Begins...

Well, it's been nearly a month since my last update.
With graduation coming in the next few days, my life has been very busy.
I've done quite a bit of work from painting models to adding more to Helm's Deep.

To start off, why don't I show you my work for the May Painting Challenge.
It's not a Hasharin but it fits the requirements.
Here is my Khandish Chieftain.

I've recently invested, (or rather followed someone's idea) and made a light "box" to take pictures of models.
It's a milk jug cut to have an opening on the top with a white sheet of paper in it. It really makes a difference.
A few examples:

Goldberry:

Inside the "box":

Cropped:

And edited (Auto correct button):

Another example:
King Theoden:

And finally:
Saruman:

And so...
Here are some models I've worked on, or finished, or just wanted to take pictures because I could. ;)

Khandish Warrior (WIP):

Saruman of Orthanc:

Smeagol/Gollum:

Banner of the Dead (Natarn Sculpt):

Tom and Goldberry:

Gothmog (WIP I think):

Frodo and Sam:

Barrow-wights:

Well that's it for the model side of things. For now anyway. ;)

I have a lot more pictures of other models and Helm's Deep, but I'll put those on later after my doctors appointment.
I also need some static grass for my Khandish Chieftain.
So, till next time!

Woh someone has been busy :-) i like the base of the kandish rider. The wood looks simple yet very great. Keep up the painting!

Wow. Great work - it's really cool to see such a variety of models. 8) I've always had a soft spot for Khand so well done with the Chieftain, and I look forwards to seeing the warrior :yay:

Wow lots of great pieces there but the Khandish Chieftain trumps all! He looks fantastic, the colours and the banner design are really effective, I am stealing your ideas en masse! :)

Thanks everyone. You're too kind. :-D

And here is the finished Khandish Chieftain. Base and all:

The pictures make the horse look brown when it's supposed to be a darkish grey. I'll figure out what went wrong with lighting or the camera.
The back part of the base is supposed to be burning wood, (or rather burnt wood with fire embers still glowing) with burnt grass around it. The other side is the original grass un-burnt. What do you guys think? Does it look like burning wood?
Hope you guys like it. Thanks again for the kind remarks. :)

Fantastic painting!
About the wood, perhaps you could paint some black around the glowing parts to emphasise the scorched look.
Looks great!

Post subject:  Re: So it Begins...

Thanks everyone.
And yet another project I'm starting. I never seem to finish the ones I start before I move on. Eventually though.
So I was thinking of either buying a suitable dragon or making my own since I'm not very fond of the GW LotR one that they have.

This is one I was looking at. What do you guys think? I like the look of it but it might be too Warhammer type.

Warpfire Dragon

Here's part of the description given about this dragon.
Quote:
The Warpfire Dragon, model designed by Steve Whitehead, is a complete resin and plastic kit which stands just over 5" tall with a 9" wingspan, making it a fantastic centrepiece for any Warhammer army.

The model shown for scale is, I think, one of GW's models. Could be wrong though.
Let me know what you think. :)

It does like quite Warhammery, but a small amount of modification on the face and you could have a really cool and dynamic dragon 8)

...for a warhammer army...

says it all really, very nice in a WFB army, but not for LOTR, IMO.

The dead banner bearer model is a really nice sculpt. I am sooooo jealous of your Helm's Deep terrain. Arghhh

I really like the dragon. I reckon it could work anywhere (of course, I don't play the game only paint so maybe you can ignore my opinion...). Thanks for posting all those light box photos. Great to see the difference in quality. I really like gollum - nice painting. And the Khand Chieftan is awesome!

Forge World is a company, as I know it is partner with GW. They create expensive, highly detailed models for 40K and WHFB, and some other rare stuff also. They models mostly very huge, like this dragon. These stuffs are expansion of the Warhammer world, they have their own stats, correct rules, and everything, so you can use it perfectly during the game.
By the way, Forge World has one Lotr product also (not available any more): http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic469864.jpg

Post subject:  Re: So it Begins...

this is definitely too late and i apologise for not seeing this thread sonner or i could have made this point, in the Lord of the Rings: The Third Age (ps2) the stairs at the back of helms deep leading away from the deeping wall lead to a small courtyard surrounded by a low wall with one passage leading back to the main fortress through the mountainside and another passage leading away form the fortress to the glittering caves. i just wanted to get this off my chest and hope that it can be of some assistance to you :)
