Been to long since i painted again :-) But i did one figure at least today. I was getting sick a bit of inking all the time. I am currently using my miniature painting brush to ink my comic and it takes quite some concentration.. I don't have to much energy for the little guys left after all those hours of inking. So I done something big.
Flash killed some colours again - as u can c the black book lighted up just a tiny bit ;-)

Using the guide of the great Smaug, i am going for a dragon sculpt. It will be a small dragon. I started on the wings and something that is supossed to turn into a body..

Not really happy with the result, i don't know how to handle it. I guess will do the skin with the dots of green stuff. Even tough i wanted to do scales at first but since i couldn't even do this part to well i don't c me doing the scales.

I think it looks pretty neat (:

maybe you could 'study' pictures of dragons on internet, maybe it'll give you some nice ideas you could try out!
also, what kind of dragon will it be? a fire or more an ice dragon? If you go with the fire dragon, maybe you could sculpt dried magma on him, and leaving some space in between them and paint it red with orange/yellow, to represent some magma which is still running or something. For the ice dragon.. I don't really know something.. :P

I just wanted a regular dragon :-) and i just lack some sculpting skills for some stuff.. i should have practiced first, but then again the clay is quite expensive.

Maybe you could just but some regular clay instead of the real sculpting clay you use, you can find them in toy stores, they'll just cost you like €3 for a pack, and you'll be able to test sculpt first this way (: anyway, I'm sure you'll do fine, keep the pictures coming! I should do some painting too.. but I'm to tired these days 'cause of my medication.. back to hospital Wednesday, but I won't go off topic, we'll talk about it later ;p

I have some professional oil based sculpting clay - that never drys that might make good practise material.. only the structure is not really the same , but it might help

I've got lots of time to think about stuff now that I don't have to go to school you know ;)
Good luck with the clay! :D

Excellent scratchbuilding, garmenhorde, good to see you're still at it. Nice Troll and Smaug.

This is the first finished wing

The other one still needs few things b4 getting it done. But it gives an idea of how they will look like.
I continued the weird belly thing. It feels a bit like a failure but maybe it won't look to bad when he got his scales all over the body.
Image
I found an easy way to do the skin; I just press this sponge like thing on it and get a great result.
