Hello everyone!
Is it possible to get Saruman the White and Gandalf the White in the same army?

long story short: yes. If you think about their allegiances too evil and good, it is a different story altogether.

This goes back to the same argument on whether it is possible to use all three versions of Aragorn together since they have different names or using Saruman and Sharkley together. While technically it is possible rules-wise, it is looked down upon due to fluff. Your opponent may also have the same problem here.

Personally I would say its ok since, they technically did exist together at one point in time but I guess would could say its an alternate version where Saruman joined Gandalf after being defeated. Its touchy but I wouldnt ban it since its not really all that broken.

Page 5 of the Kingdoms of Men Sourcebook says that

''As a final important note- you can only have one of any named individual in your army. You can't have an army made up entirely of Aragorns!. The same is true if there are several different versions of the same hero- Sauron and the Necromancer, for example.''

So while you couldn't have Saruman and Sharkey in the same army, you could have Gandalf the White and Saruman. However, the sourcebooks all do encourage you not to do this and advise you to avoid mixing improbable characters such as Aragorn and Elendil.

They're different issues. You can't use the three versions of Aragorn together and you can't use Saruman and Sharky together. You are allowed to use Gandalf the White and Saruman the White in your army together.

You could look down on it from a fluff perspective but there's absolutely nothing that prevents you from using the 2 white wizards in the rules.

I agree that its not illegal but I would say no from a fluff point of view.

Unless you were going to have a theme were Saruman the white agreed to serve Gandalf the white after the debate/confrontation after the destruction of Isengard

According to the errata
Q: Can Gandalf the White from the Fellowship and Saruman the White from the White Council warbands be included in the same force? (p43/55)

A: Yes, though you should refer to the Ages of the World box-out on page 6.
