Riders of Rohan and Rangers of Gondor automatically come with bows, which means you can't field a pure army of either (due to 33% bow limit) without dropping two-thirds of your bows. However, you don't get any points back for these bows you lose. So, what does everyone think of a House Rule that bascially gives you those points back? The Riders of Rohan and Rangers of Gondor would cost one point less and come without a bow, but you could buy a bow for one point.

Maybe, but I think not having it would encourage more imaginative armies.

mmm models that autimatically come wiv bows are anoying! i think a house rule like that wud be awesome. riders of rohan shud be able to be riders of rohan completly. gw obviously didnt think it was a good idea cause they changed it for wotr. i think thes rules r valid but the bow rules 4 a reason. imagin a shire army allowed to have all hobbit archers. your models would look like som pourcipines that fell on some very sharp spikes. so again 5the alowing them to take away the bow is a good idea :yay: but isnt the point in riders of rohan the fact they can u se shield and bow? maybe certain scenarious could be allowed no bows like helms deep and certain scenarious like osgiliath can have all bows

I don't think it's a problem. I've had a lot of fun with 8 RoR, 8 warriors w/ shield, and 8 warriors w/shield + throwing spear. Mobile archery is a great asset.

I do the same thing with RoG, maybe taking 8 RoG w/spear, 8 WoMT w/shield, 8 WoMT w/shield + spear. I don't have any vets, otherwise I'd include them in the front lines.

I'm actually glad the rules are there, otherwise everybody ends up with the same configuration.
