The most dangerous part of a pike is obviously the pointy bit on the end. If an enemy is in base contact then the point is a long way away... but this game is played by putting bases together to make a 'fight'. In a real battle situation the horse/warrior should be speared, at a distance, on a fence of impenetrable pikes. Once the pike wall is broken, the weapon is no longer effective. That's just one of the limitations of translating a real life situation to a playable strategy game. So they don't count as two handed weapons, which is bizarre. Perhaps they should but then the rules could just get too complex. What if they suffer no -1 fight penalty if in a 'wall' but do if used individually? On the other hand, I think we can live with the rules as they are. |

The models also count as having hand weapons so it doesn't matter if pikes count as two-handed or not, and another thing you can't support 2-handed weapons, so again pikes can't count as 2-handed. |
