Hello,

I'm 37, Male, have Aspergers and live in the Scottish Highlands. I'm a huge Lord of the Rings fan and very geeky for movies, comics, video games and such.

I was quite into Warhammer and 40k when I was younger, but have not really thought much about it for years. A friend of mine recently started getting into LOTR: SBG with the Mines of Moria box. After a few games I have been hooked. I bought the Mines of Moria set myself, a few character/monster models and have now got an Uruk-hai army that is probably somewhere between 1500 - 1800 points. I have also been building my own terrain.

Just thought I would introduce myself and if anyone is in or near Inverness that wants to get together for a game let me know.

Cheers

Breck

Great to have you with us on the site. Always good to have more people playing lotr in Scotland! Where abouts are you? I'm about half an hour from Elgin and have been into the lotr hobby for quite a while now. Look forward to seeing you around on the forums.

I am on the Black Isle. Where are you from Elgin? Do you play SBG or WOTR? I got the rule book for WOTR but I am sticking with SBG just now. I'll need to take some pics of my WIP army and some of my terrain. I'm currently building Sam's Hobbit Hole. I've tried to recreate it from watching the films.

I play mostly SBG, although I have both rule books. Played WotR a little bit but never got into it. Hope to see some of your painting and terrain up on a thread soon, as I'm always happy to see more terrain! Did the exact same thing by watching the film to make my Helm's Deep model (god knows how many times I've seen the Two Towers Helm scene).

I'll try to get some pictures taken of what I've done so far. I've made some hedges, a battering ram and fences. I've modded the scenery pieces that come with the Mines of Moria box. I made a board from plywood to play the Balin's tomb scenario on and have been painting the odd miniture in between (just finished Lurtz and a couple of scouts). I plan to build Helm's deep myself at some point. I have all sorts of crazy plans for terrain. I would love to build Edoras and play scenarios around that.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Cheers Gothmoth. I am nice. Having had a quick look around it seems that most people here are nice too.

I agree, this is generally a friendly site. Would enjoy seeing your WIP when you run it. 8)

Edoras sounds good! You should have a check of Dagorlads tutorial on the 'Tomes of Wisdom', he's made a fantastic wall/gatehouse/towers especially for Edoras. For Helm's Deep there are quite a few members including myself who have made it and can give you some help if needed.

Where do I find the tomes of wisdom tutorial? I shall definately be looking for help when I get round to Helm's Deep. Thanks!

Look up at the top, to the right it's there in the light blue/grey banner. Go Tomes of Wisdom - Building MiddleEarth - Constructions and it's there. There are two version available I believe - one done by Onyx (done in hirst art blocks) and another done by GeBoom on the second page. You'll find building Edoras there too.

Just checked out some of the stuff in the tomes of wisdom section. Wow! Some amazing talent here. I am inspired to do better. I may 'steal' a few ideas to add to my own creations. I will try to give credit if I show anything on here though.

Slange! Ice Queen. I hope you enjoy that as I am a vegetarian and can't stand Whisky. :)
