Although I have read the books and seen the movies one thing has always bothered me. Where are the rest of the Dwarves while this whole
big war is going on? At least in the extended version of the movie a few Dwarves attend the Council. But then they are never seen again. How come? I always wondered why JRR never included them in any of the big battles in the triolgy. What were they doing while all hell is breaking out around them?

Forgive me if I am not a Tolien master and missed something in either the books or the movies. If I did I would love to know what it was or what the explanation is for the dwarves sitting out a war which would have ended their time in Middle Earth had it gone bad.

I am quite sure that there are people who are far more learned than I that can give some sort of reasoning. I really am curious. Thanks to all who take the time to explain.

There were some dwarves in the blue mountains but a lot were just wandering around trying to earn a living. Those would've probably got involved into whatever conflict was going on where ever they happened to be.

The Blue Mountains were in fact a large mining colony of the Dwarves.


You could just look up the Thain's Book - it always has some good information on this kind of thing.
