So yeah, Peter Jackson's adaption or Tolkien's original? What do you think was better? The films or the books?

Please can you give reasons, rather than just posting

I personally prefer the books, because of the inclusion of the Knights of Dol Amorth, my favourite good warriors, and Prince Imrahil as well. 8)

Now it's your turn. [/quote]

I like tha books best, they give a nice "old-fashion" mood about the story :-D
Second, they included the scouring of the shire (allthough the extended version was nice and good too 8) )

It is never easy to create a film from a book, especially in the case of 3 books on a grand scale as LOTR. I prefer the books, of course, but I did enjoy the movies in spite of the "changes" made to bring it to the big screen.

Oooh, tough question.

The Books had everything in them, Scouring of the Shire, Ghan-buri Ghan, but the Films put colour to the scenes and faces to the names of everything in the book. Tolkien wrote it, PJ interpreted it. It is hard to decide...... arrrrghhhhh......

BOOKS. They were the complete tale of the Fellowship, and are more whole than the films. Though the films had cool graphics..... Leave me a few days to decide.

I donno, I havent read the books in a while, but as I remember the books were very slow and put so much detail in the smallest thing. I like how the movies were long enough to put in most of the books, but didnt have too much detail. They are both very good but I think I might favor the movies a bit.

I don't find reading books boring.. (in fact, I enjoy reading), but I believe the books just can't hold a fight against the films, simply because they drag on way too much. Were you really gripped by the battle of helms Helms deep in the films or the books? (same for everything else..)

The books are better. You can take them to the toilet.

It's not safe hooking up a DVD player to work in there...

A book is softer on the skin than a DVD...

I personally prefere the books, though the movies are great visual aids to putting a look to what I read. the changes where to grand even for the need to bring it to the big screen, many of which I thought where verry unneccesary. I watch the movies for visual appeal and read the books for the actual story that I love.
