After completing our Rohan Campaign, our group has geared up for a Gondor Campaign. The format will be again a narrative map campaign lasting 12 campaign turns. We will again be using the map from the War of the Ring board game. The Evil side will be the armies of Barad Dur, Minas Morgul, and the Southrons; the Good side will be the armies of Minas Tirith, the Fiefdoms, and Rohan with Forgotten Kingdoms allies.
Each side will start will roughly 2,000 points including heroes and escalate each turn until Good reaches 10,000 points and Evil reaches 11,000 points by Turn7. The goal of the campaign is for Evil to hold both Minas Tirith and Osgiliath by Turn 12 and for Good to hold Barad Dur by Turn 12 or destroy the One Ring at any time.
Each turn a side can move one area on the map. If opposing forces are in an area, a battle will be fought. If there are less than 700 points on one of the sides, a Strategy battle Game will be fought. If there are over 700 points on both sides, a War of the Ring game will be fought.
Frodo's movement is kept hidden to the Evil player but his location is revealed on every fourth turn. Frodo can evade if an enemy force is in his area, but not into an area with other evil formations. If so, Evil gets the ring. Frodo can take part in a SBG game, but not a WOTR game. If Frodo killed Evil gets the ring. If Evil does get the ring, the campaign does not automatically end, rather Sauron in full form arrives at Barad Dur the following turn.
We have already started our moves and have met for our first battle. You can follow the entire campaign with monthly battle reports at the link for my blog below.
