All of your previous articles were fantastic, but this one is... uber-fantastic! It's simply amazing, beautiful diorama with a step-by-step description of the whole process of making it.

Very inspiring article, congrats!

Fantastic. I couldn't have lived without seeing how that beauty was created. :D

I actually started making a hobbit hole, but I'm sure it will never be finished. :P Just another work in progress... *sigh*

Having watched this being built I have already been struck speechless.
Now seeing it finished I can add nothing that anyone else has not said.

Faultless,

Flawless,

Perfect in every detail,

I hate you, you.. you.... horrible person

you make us realise that some of us are but mere mortals, destined to live in the shadows of greater beings...

We are not worthy

I'm speechless! wow! I won't do the old "it's the best scenario I've seen!"...but it is! Stunning. I want it! :o :o

Wow, I'm getting my Gandalf tomorrow and I hadn't figured what to do with it yet. Now I do. I'm gonna forget about my Hobbit parade idea and I'm gonna steal your idea. :D

What a great guide

Can I please overload you with pm's with questions? :D Where can I buy plinth-things? And the bricks?

Sorry, I'm just not that creative (at this moment)

Ahh, finally we get to see the model after which Peter Jackson had let built the scene in the film ...! ;-)

superb, Durins, simply superb!

and the article in detailed pics and description is another great help for others even though the perfection and tidiness in planning and building will be hard to reach for most of us.

fortunately I had built my hobbithome at the same time. otherwise I might have been frustrated after your article. ...
but as I had said before I did it a bit different ...and find it totally interesting to see the different approaches and techniques!

while you, Durins, have a defined concept and perfect plan and know your skills and material very well, I am more trying this and that and find out things a lot by accident (also unpleasant ones like that the wooden board started to get wet by the pappmaché and I nearly got moulds...) ...

first thoughts I had were: what might a hobbithome look like in autumn or winter and that some hobbits that are more 'globally orientated' might enjoy a window that will let them watch the stars at night...
and so it went on with breaks ... up to today...

(it would be nice if one this site we could somehow display pics of the same kind, espeically of miniatures, on one page for comparison. (not for competition! there are many nice samples around of equivalent styles of painting minis for example)

A great article and a masterpiece at the end... I could only give this a 10 which is a pity as it deserves 11 at least.

As someone who has made Bag End, (not as a diorama, but as a gaming piece), I wish you had made this article before I started. The details you put into this piece are amazing, and some of the techniques you used would have been most helpful to me.
The article itself was extremely well done. Informative, clear instructions.
Well done.

This was simply beautiful.
