The July issue of White Dwarf has a little panel at the back saying what is in the next issue. In there it does say Middle-earth, but no more details than that.

Well, we know it is coming in August. So that makes sense.

Just wish they weren't so secretive about it. Don't really understand how it's good marketing to not discuss it so close to release.

I am really looking forward to this! All the new sculpts; the fact that they, by the sounds of it, are going to be making new plastic heroes - rather than just sticking with forge world resin. I can't wait to see what Jay Clare has done with the rules. I just hope that the new head of middle-earth will share the same passion as Adam Troke and push our wonderful games in the coming years and the future beyond.

Need to tell us the date and price.

Need to tell us the date and price?

The contents of August White Dwarf magazine have been posted on another site. It looks like the new Middle Earth set isn't written about in the August edition, but is mentioned in the contents for the issue going on sale on September 7th. So the box might be likely to be released during September? Price is probably going to be £95 like the Sigmar/40K starter sets.

Some info from judgedoug on DakkaDakka:

Quote:
Confirmed on Warhammer TV just now that Pelennor Fields starter box is Citadel/GW and will be available from all Warhammer stores and any game stores with GW trade/retail accounts.

Releases planned through the end of 2020 with monthly releases planned.

Theoden is the first of a range of new plastics (characters).

OOP models related to Pelennor Fields in the first 2-3 months of release will be coming BACK IN PRODUCTION: Models will cycle into production for a "while" and then back out, then cycle other models back into production, repeat.

Well, we know August. Probobly do not want any spoilers on scenarios, new rules, etc. I meant the exact date... I am impatient. Thank you for the price estimate, now I know my saving goal.

Hope they do the books separate from the box set. I have all those models and I already have a nice Théoden mtd and foot.

Hopefully it will be available separately, but worst case scenario you'll be able to pick it up seperetly from a scalper off eBay..

Interesting...The warriors of Minis Tirith box displays the models from two sprues. I wonder what that means for pricing and the scale of battles in the new scenarios. The existence of this stand is good news at any rate since it means that the models will be carried in store for a while.

The move back to 24 miniatures per box is great news. Wonder if it means there's also some hope for a 2nd edition release of WoTR at some stage down the track- a man can dream! :D

I'm trying to find out what the new models will cost in CAD, but it doesn't convert over very well for the most part. Guess I'll just have to wait. I love the new box art and display. I was just in the Calgary GW and they have nothing LoTR, not even the old minis the staff had painted. I do want to attend the release party for this one, maybe I'll donate some rohan houses.

I'm super excited about the limited re-release of certain minis. I've always wanted a mounted Faramir with barding and some feral uruks, so here's hoping!

So will the rule book included in the boxed set be the same as the one available for purchase by itself or will it be abbreviated?

The display does look excellent, I’d love one for my gaming area.

The rule book in the boxed set is the same one you can buy separately, not a small or abbreviated version.

The display looks great. I think the one possible thing GW should watch for is to put some of the "famous" characters out quick ... if you were a complete newcomer to the game, you might look through the boxes on show and say "where's Aragorn or Gandalf?" and that might put you off buying in.

I'm sure they'll fix that pretty quick, and maybe they'll have catalogues showing the rest of the range that's available already. Probably some of the old heroes coming back in plastic soon too.

It's nice that it looks available to third party retailers. In the UK they often provide a 20-25% discount against official Games Workshop prices, which you haven't been able to get on the Middle Earth range while it was web-order only.

I am giddy with excitement, I hope this really takes off and rewards GW's decision to bring it back into full availability.
