Their prices seem reasonable–for GW's price standards at least. Now only the Ruffians need to be made available again and I can start playing the scenarios of the Scouring of the Shire sourcebook!

I found one shirriff in my cupboard ... did they ever use to package them as single models, or maybe a shirriff with Lobelia/Fatty/Paladin Took?

I don't seem to have the horn-blower model, or three other shirriffs hiding anywhere, so I'm wondering if I lost them or if they were sold differently back years ago?

Originally the horn blower was sold as part of the "Hobbits of the Shire" set, which didn't contain Lobelia, who was crazy expensive and hard to find on the secondary market before the FC release of the 4 pack. Usually, models were released in a 3 pack blister back in the heyday. Hobbits, being smaller, were released in a 4 pack, including the Sheriffs. Which actually made them a pretty good deal as far a the ol' paintbrush is concerned.

If you haven't painted Maggot and hounds, you should. They were a blast to paint.

Thanks. Well, I have some new shiriffs now to join the old one I found in the cupboard. Lots of painting ahead!

Anyone got any recommendations for a 700 point hobbit army? Seems pretty tricky actually as I don't think there's a generic captain ... so if you take the main 4 hobbits and Paladin Took that's five warbands ... 60 hobbits so only 240 points at most if you upgrade the archers/militia plus the captain points. I guess if you put Gandalf in or something that adds enough points.

(I guess there's a fifth captain if you take Brandobras Took, but he's not from the same time period I think).

You could use Bandobras as one of the other named characters from the Shire, although his horse will be difficult to justify! Gandalf is a popular option, or Aragorn to have a hero actually capable of fighting, with more Rangers of the North (possibly with Halbarad) as thematic options too. Helps with the Shire's low Might stores as well. Could further include things like Gildor with some wandering Elves, for example.

Some nice ideas there, thanks. Actually Gandalf on Cart might fit in well with the look. I think I have that painted already.
