Hi,

Has anyone taken a look at the cost of the figures lately?

In some countries the price has almost doubled. In Australia you can get 3 figures for $50????

With no range-wide price increases in years and no new releases in the past months, I'm not quite sure how this constitutes news...

Did this just start by you looking at the AUS prices while thinking you were looking at the US prices or something? Wouldn't be the first time.

I know eh, got me worried there for a second, even though I buy from a discount indie. Still GW prices go up, indie prices go up.

We come to the carnival..

When I hear all those "support" the hobby, by buying from gw at this moment, is like...

They increased due to the new model's higher quality but that's like... whatever.

This has been a recurring issue with GW over the years, and a particular problem with The Hobbit line. With a few notable exceptions (the "Escape from Goblintown" set for example) the prices on many of The Hobbit line are rather high. I know more than one person who was turned off getting involved due to the cost of the miniatures. :(

Im surprised people say SBG is expensive. Compared to 40k, The Hobbit is extremely cheap. Only a couple boxes gets you into the game.

(though now I suppose Age of Sigmar is the cheapest game)

The actual boxes plastics are not too bad. Not cheap by any means but not that unreasonable. Its the clampacked figures that are so dear. I just recently broke down and bought the "Champions of Erebor" bundle. Thirteen dwarfs plus Bilbo for $190! On the other hand you only pay $35 for a dozen plastic Warriors of Erebor dwarfs. The Hobbit character packs with a mounted and foot figure are selling for around twice what I used to pay for similar LOTR pairs in metals.

I know my own purchases slowed down when I saw those prices, even though I have a fair amount of money I can spend on my hobby. I was also told my more than one other person that they were going to buy the Hobbit starter box (which is a good buy) until they saw the prices on the clamshells. The fact that so many figures were made in Finecast didn't help, either.

The troop clampacks are the worst. 3 Laketowners for $15? That's insane. And why I use Warriors of Dale as proxies.

^Especially for militia men. They should've been plastic.

*would have been plastic, if the game had been supported by the community more ;)

^We all know why it wasn't, and it's not the community's fault. But enough about that, it's a discussion done too many times over.
