I'm guesing stat wise he'll probarbly be like an uber orc shaman. He'll have better f/v and courage, as he's an elf, but he'll probarbly cost quite a lot to field.

I don't think he will be uber, but I don't think he will be cheap either.

Here's a pic of the Ent in a paintjob that actually works...
(sorry about the blurry phone pic)

This one looks much better compared to the others.

This one has a better principle, thats for sure.

It is made to look like a silver Birch,so why don't GW paint it like one!!!

If I was to buy this, I would by this only because it is like a birch.

What's going on with that horse in the top right corner? It looks like he's falling over.

Anyway, that Ent paint scheme is much, much better.

Mr. Gondorian: Never mind that, my lad. I wish to complain about this horse what I purchased not half an hour ago from this very boutique.

Owner: Oh yes, the, uh, the Rohirrim Brown...What's,uh...What's wrong with it?

Mr. Gondorian: I'll tell you what's wrong with it, my lad. 'E's dead, that's what's wrong with it!

Owner: No, no, 'e's uh,...he's resting.

" 'es pinin for the Fjords... err... plains o' rohan"

No - it was a banner bearer and he took a nasty hit to the head when the troll threw him off the playing table.

Man GW deserves some serious congratulations.
Everything looks superb. :yay:

This is something I'm willing to pay for, without having a feeling of spending to much money on stupid things. :-D

Nice work!8)

That new ent paint scheme has definately made the model look better, I may even consider getting one, now that I can see it can look good without the use of green stuff. :)

the minas tirith guys look good the captain looks pretty angry the gladrahim dont do it for me the poses are hideous maybe the elves are supposed to be static. the army of the dead will definently be purchased by me. the bat orc is a little bit childish and that dwarf guy looks alright but the shields to big

Well, it is a bit better, I suppose, but I honestly still think it looks like GW didn't even try with the new Ent.
And I honestly can't say I'm impressed with the new WK model, either. I couldn't see all of it, but it reminds me of the "The Third Age" video game. Now, the game does offer some interesting ideas for the hobbyist, in terms of wargear modification, but I wouldn't want any of my models to sport those silly poses.
I rather like the Morannon Shaman, though. I might not use it in a game, but it does offer some nice variation for the very bland chaos that is the orc masses. I actually took my own Mordor shaman and gave him a hood made to look like an orc imitation of the Nazgul hood.

And the Rohan Captain looks like a perfect model for dioramas and displays! :D

wow, now that's a nice snapshot!
Love the Rohan-captain, how he's pushing one of Gaarem's orcs to maggot-world.. whahahahaaa...

Looking great :-)

(wouldn't want to be one of the guys behind the standard-bearer though... being slapped in your face by an old granny's curtain all the time...)

I saw many of these models in the big shopping centre in Manchester at the weekend, there's some nice stuff.

The plastic army of the dead are very nice, a good match for the metal ones (I thought they were until the shop-guy said they were plastic) - very similar poses to the metal but a little more dynamic and of course I'm guessing they'll be less expensive than the metal.

The Ent is actually pretty nice in the flesh, I'm guessing it has posable joints and then you just need a little green to cover over the joints imho - I hope they do more than one tho as they do look like clones all in a row.

The 'new' Gandalf is not as good as mine, but that's only to be expected Image
but what can I tell you, I've applied for a job at GW 3 times and not even had an interview. Image
I can't claim to have had the idea first though, I copied mine from the Sideshow Weta model.

I had the new rules explained to me as best they could in just a few minutes, but I don't think I'll be buying into it. The rule book looked too daunting, its a fair bit thicker than the OR book, and I'm not keen on racking the models up on rectangular trays like warhammer and fighting in blocks. You might as well play with rectangles of MDF and write 'orcs' on the top. One of the things I like most about the original Lord of the Rings rules is individual movement of the models and the chaotic battle lines this produces. Any wargame that keeps battle lines in neat rectangles is fundamentally flawed in my opinion.

It seems that a lot of dice will be needed too - you're going to need a small cup to toss them all. I think in conversation with the GW staff you could need to throw as many as 36 dice in one attack - which is just ridiculous. Surely there are more efficient ways of arriving at a similar outcome using less dice, a table, or percentage dice etc - rather than simply throwing larger and larger handfuls of d6's.

I think the new game is just a ploy to encourage games that need more models anyway, so perhaps I'm not being as open minded to it as I should be. But making them cheaper in plastic doesn't fix the problem of how to paint them all. It does look like they're going to re-produce the entire range in plastic though to reduce the costs etc - so I fear the end is nigh for the metal range. I could be wrong. and perhaps some heroes will remain in metal, but on the upside, the new plastics are looking very nicely done and that's a good thing both for the new game and the original.
